Frohman “Buddy” Wool, MD; just shy of his 93rd birthday, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Mildred Wool for 65 years. Loving father of Dr. Norman (Ruth), Karla Wool Bukstein, Dr. Steven (Cindy of blessed memory) and Gary ( Lauren). Proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was born on August 13, 1920, and raised in St Louis, Mo. He attended St. Louis University for undergraduate studies and medical school. Following graduation he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army, stationed in Little Rock, Arkansas. He met the love of his life, Millie, while at Little Rock . They married January 3, 1948, and moved to Waukegan, Illinois. There he practiced medicine for over 45 years and was known as a “true family physician”. As an attending physician at Victory memorial Hospital and St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan he also delivered babies and performed surgeries. He had evening office hours and also made house calls. He took care of generations of families in Waukegan and was loved by his patients. After he retired, he continued his passion for medicine through teaching at Chicago Medical School in North Chicago. He was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society by the students he taught. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, gentle soul, and his love of family and friends. Graveside service today, 10:30 AM at Am Echod Cemetery, 3200 Grand Ave, Waukegan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
