Obituary

Marcia Sommers-Schakner, 72, beloved wife of the late Randall C. Schakner; the most loving and devoted mother of Julie (Mike) Lichtman and Susan (Bill) Dubin; adoring and cherished nana of Rachael, Brent and Andrew; treasured sister of Jeffrey Wagner; dear friend of many and adored by all. Marcia was a member of Ezra-Habonim, the Niles Township Jewish Congregation, Hadassah and the Skokie Concert Choir. Chapel service Friday 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 820 Davis St., Suite 400, Evanston, IL 60201 or Operation Smile, 6435 Tidewater Drive Norfolk, VA 23509. Marcia was always there to love and support my brother, Randy, throughout the years. They were fortunate to have found each other. We enjoyed many holiday dinners with them.

I am lucky for all of the joy and laughter due to my friendship with Marcia.
The world is better place knowing that some of my friend lives on through Susan and Julie.
