Obituary

Lola (Silbernik) Nortman, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at her home on April 4, 2013. She was born December 21, 1921 to Israel Abraham and Chana Silbernik in Sosnowiec, Poland, and was the beloved youngest child of a large family. The quintessential survivor, she survived Bergen Belsen concentration camp and the Holocaust and persevered her entire life. On April 10, 1949, she married the late Benjamin Nortman in Paris and together they had two daughters, Sherry Nortman (Scott) Wolf and Marlene Nortman (Lee) Rubenstein. In addition to her daughters, Nani is survived by her four grandchildren: Jared (Annie) Rubenstein, Dena Rubenstein (Zach Fox), Bari Wolf and Frankie Wolf, and will be lovingly remembered by extended family, friends and devoted caregiver, Danuta Bardeli. Family meant everything to her and defined her life. Funeral services are graveside on Friday, April 5 at 3pm at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 West Rand Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (Washington D.C.) PO Box 1852, Highland Park, IL 60035.
