Obituary
Seymour “Sy” Gassel, 89; beloved husband and best friend for 65 years of Rose nee Starkston; devoted and loving father of Alan (Wendy), Larry (Betty) and the late Steven; proud and adoring Grandpa Sy of Elisa and Haley; loving son of the late Louis and Sarah; dear brother of Florence (Nate) Cohen and Jerry (Myrna) Gassel; fond uncle, cousin and friend of many. Special thanks to his wonderful caregivers, Janet and Viola and Dr. David Kanarek. Veteran of WWII. Devoted family man, entrepreneur and restaurateur who will be dearly missed. His greatest happiness was the joy of family and helping others succeed. Graveside service Monday, 12:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to National Alliance on Mental Illness, www.nami.org or Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
