Obituary

Ruth E. Chausow, nee Wachtenheim, age 87, beloved wife of the late Hymen for 66 wonderful years. Loving mother of Alan (Deborah) Chausow, Nancy Chausow (Arnold) Shafer, Karen (Marshall) Brill and the late Diane Chausow. Adoring “Grandma Ruth” of Lara and Jared Chausow, Edward and Samantha Shafer, Stephanie and Alyssa Brill and honorary “Grandma” to so many. Dearest sister of Seymour (the late Mary) Wachtenheim. Devoted aunt and great aunt. She will be deeply missed by all. Chapel service today, Thursday 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Rd., Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. A better neighbor does not exist. Ruth introduced us to Arlington, gardening and all things Highland Park. She was a gracious friend and lovely person. I always knew where to look when 3 year old Grace and fellow troublemaker Lydia would disappear. They were always on Ruth’s front step with a cookie in each hand and a story of woe regarding the eternal lack of cookies in their respective homes. We’ve missed her as a neighbor since we moved from Arlington and will always hold her memory dear.
