Whenever my son and I would visit Ray and Irwin, I can’t let go of the joy I always saw in Irwin. He was always such a good friend, kind, gentle and my son would always light up when he knew we were going for a visit. The saturday evening visits of wonderful conversations, music and the fabulous Indian, Chinese, and Pizza nights are forever in my mind. He will be missed and always remembered.

I met Irwin around 1971, through CB radio. We spent many middle-of-the-nights at Jack’s on Touhy, as well as lots of other places. I loved hanging out with Irwin and Cary because they always cracked me (and themselves!) up with their impersonations of the Marx Brothers and the Three Stooges, etc. In early 1974 I met my husband, only to learn that he had attended (and I use that term loosely) Hebrew School with both Irwin and Cary in Albany Park – such a small world!! While I hadn’t been in touch personally with Irwin over these past many years I have continued to keep up with him through Cary. My heartfelt condolences go out to Ray and also to Cary during this very sad time. If I had one word to say to Irwin it would have to be “Yeesha!”
May Irwin be kept in the shelter of G-d’s wings for all eternity.

My first memory of Irwin was in the first grade. I had never met anyone like him, and he never met anyone like me I guess. We were fast friends and got into trouble together, drove our teachers (and parents) nuts, and did everything together. We went to the movies together, singing and drum lessons together, ran through the alley together, Kiddy Land together, summer camp together, college together, drinking together, golfing together, gigs and performances together… this has been a huge loss. Thank you Irwin for a life of laughs. No matter how low, how sick, how far away, you never failed me. Rest in peace my dear friend.

Irwin was the boy I had a crush on in grade school. My mother Esther Joseph and Irwin’s mother Zena were friends from the time they were single young women. Irwin’s parents were always Aunt Zena and Uncle Hank to me. I remember endless times of our families getting together with the “couples club” and particularly the Floren family.
Irwin always had such a sweet nature. He was so caring of his parents, family and friends. I’m sad that we have lost such a loving soul.
