To my dear friend and colleague, since we met in 1978 at the CBOE, we have shared many occasions both joyous and sorrowful. I will truly miss you but will try to remember your insights and wit and know that you are finally at peace.
My love,
Herchel

So many beautiful memories. My dad (Harold) raised me the second part of my life (after age 13) after my dad passed away. He never tried to replace my dad…ever. He became my friend, my dad #2, a person to go to for advice, and a loving papa to his grandchildren. One of my favorite recent moments was getting a pedicure together this past June….sitting side by side…enjoying each other’s company. I wish I could go back… But he knew how I felt, how much I loved him, and how thankful I was that he came into our life. An incredibly special man that I was lucky to be able to call dad.

It feels like a dream and I really wish it was and I could wake up and talk to you and go out to eat with you again and tell you what a Wonderful father you have been and tell you I love you one more time! Mr. Jacobson gave me a bit of wisdom the first time I met him. It was a solemn occasion, the services for his late wife Linda. Mr. Jacobson’s son, Scott is my dear friend and I wanted to attend the services and be there for him. I was introduced to Mr. Jacobson and he shook my hand an held it. I apologized for my work attire and stated that I wouldn’t be able to stay long as I was on my way to work. Mr. Jacobson was so gracious. Still holding my hand and in his, with infinite wisdom, he said that “Its not the clothes a man wears, it’s the respect that he shows by being there when it counts that truly shows he is a man.” We made plans to get together when he was back in town to have coffee and get to know each other better. My wife, Colleen and I are deeply saddened that we never got the chance to make the plans come to fruition. Our deepest condolences go out to Scott, his wife Julie and the rest of Mr. Jacobson’s Family. Mr. Jacobson will be missed but always in our thoughts and prayers.
