Obituary

Morton Simon Razowsky, 90, of Los Angeles, California died on Sunday, December 13, 2015. Mort was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 18, 1925. He graduated from the University of Illinois and UCLA with graduate degrees. He served in WW II, in Korea under General MacArthur in Japan where he also worked with the USO. Mort was an educational advocate for his students and was a world traveler. He is survived by his sister Anne (the late Walter) and his brother Gerald (Robin). Mort was preceded in death by his brother Norman (Jeanette) and his parents Sam and Gussie. He leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. Chapel service Thursday 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. I met Mort when we were at UCLA and we remained friends since then. We attended theater productions together for many seasons, and along with Jerry Field we had an adventurous trip to Mexico. I have Mort to thank for introducing me to my wife of 44 years. I will miss his sense of humor.

By accident or happenstance, I saw today’s Los Angeles Times and turned a page to see a picture of Mort. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my memories of Mort with his family. When I got to know mort, I was teaching at the same school as he. Mort was always kind, good-humored, and made me feel like he was interested in what I had to say. Long ago, I left teaching for the private sector and didn’t have the opportunity to keep in touch with so many good people I had gotten to know, including Mort. I hope he had a wonderful, peaceful life.
