Kenneth “Kenny” Feigenbaum

My father, without doubt, was a character. Funny, generous, kind, tough, devoted, loved by many. There was no one like him. He could sing like a canary (what a beautiful voice he had!). I mentioned tough above, and that he was. My brother and I knew exactly where the “line” was and rarely crossed it. He wasn’t one for gratuitous expressions of love and devotion, but there was such a tender gentleness about him. He loved animals, his beloved dog of his youth Queenie, our family dog Lady, and he became fond of cats, in particular a cross-eyed Siamese named Suki. He was remarkable with my mom’s irascible Uncle Leon, and there developed a deep and mutual respect. My dad was devoted to my mom, and protective of her at all times. He loved his grandsons and they were devoted to him, and they shared a secret handshake from childhood onward, used whenever they got together. He was proud of my multi-talented brother and kept drawings, letters and cards my brother sent to my parents. My dad loved collecting stamps, coins and magic tricks, which he delighted in sharing with others. He frequently donated to causes of all kinds and was a generous tipper of restaurant staff, including bus boys. It seems he never forgot what it was like to have little in your pocket. I miss you dad, every day, and love you always.
