I’ve been proud to have known Don for 48 yrs. The first time we met, I knew we would be friends for a long time. We have never lost touch in all those years, even after relocating to Santa Fe. I will miss you greatly, but most of all I think I will miss being able to call you and talk about anything. shalom!

Michelle,
I know this is a very trying time for you. I know loosing your mate is not an easy load to carry, but I know the Lord will carry you through if you rely on Him. I have been doing that for 2 1/2 years now and it is the only thing that has kept me going. I pray for God to comfort you and all your family, Don’s Mom and all his family, in this time of sorrow.
Love you
Aunt Shirley

My memory? Where do I start? Don and I go back to the early 70’s when I was working a Z Frank Chevrolet and he worked for RC Radio installing and repairing car stereos. Yes, people, 8 tracks ! We met and soon formed a fierce bond, had so many common likes and
dislikes and lust for life. He was a Sox fan, I was a Cubs fan, and I think that’s all we never
agreed about. We loved Cap’n Nemos’, the Fish Keg, and any bar that would allow us in after a few visits. We used to joke that we wanted to end up in the same old folk’s home someday, having wheelchair races down the halls, pinching Nurses’ bottoms while passing a bong back and forth. In time, he became godfather to my three kids, their ” Uncle Donnie”….and now I have just great memories left…

I met Don when I was 13 and he was 16. I was working at Hollywood Kiddieland in Lincoln Village and Don worked at the adjacent batting cages. We hit it off right away and ended up knowing each other for life. Don loved life, and our crazy days at “The Canal” as youths led to later years of camping as couples and then camping with families. Michele seemed to renew life in Don, as he and I shared lifelong back problems that only a special spouse can handle. We found a few early photos to help you remember his life. God Bless you, my friend. The Marty Hoffman Family
