Obituary

Did you hear the one about the old Jewish man and his dog named Sparky at the gates of heaven… Edmund Otto Sterling passed away on October 23rd, 2015. He always had a joke to tell his family, friends and everyone he met. He made everyone around him smile with his strong spirit and zest for life. He not only persevered through good health and bad, he thrived. He worked tirelessly his whole life providing for his family. He was an avid fisherman and fished every chance he got. His favorite place to be was in Isle, Minnesota on Mille Lacs Lake. He was born in Chicago, IL in 1938. He was an United States Air Force veteran, lived in Niles for 40 years and moved to Buffalo Grove in retirement. He was the devoted husband for 55 years to Marcy Sterling, beloved father of Lori (Ron) Turbin, Kim (Andrew) Siegel, Cheryl (Ken) Shraiberg and Robin (John) Raef. He was the proud grandfather (Pop) to Ryan and Brandon Raef, Kailee, Eden and Kyle Shraiberg. He was the loyal brother of Bobby and Noel Sterling. He will be remembered and greatly missed by his cousins, nieces, nephews, and the countless friends he made throughout his life.
