Gary Edward Pechter, 64, beloved husband of Sue, nee Farber, for 33 wonderful years; loving father of Brad Ellis, Rob (Lisa) Ellis and Becky Pechter (Aaron Brottman); cherished grandpa of Sara, Ryan, Madeline and Caroline; devoted son of the late Eleanor and the late David Pechter and son-in-law of Irv and the late Naomi Farber; dear brother of Elise Pechter and brother-in-law of Jan (Stu) Goldman and Phil (Adriana) Farber; treasured uncle, cousin, mentor and friend of many. Chapel service Monday 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. There was a bunch of us who worked out at the Skokie JCC in the morning. We were workout buddies and often were invited to weddings of our friends’ children. When the “J” gym closed, most of us continued at Weber. All of us will miss Gary.

I met Gary through a group of friends who play basketball every Sunday morning.He made an instant impression on everyone as not just a good basketball player, but a truly wonderful person. I know that everyone in our group is very sad to hear of Gary’s passing.He will definitely be missed. Rest in peace good buddy.
