Jerry David Raff, of Millbrook, Illinois, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed while surrounded by his loved ones in the home that he built. The son of Isaac and Ruth Raff, Jerry began his career as an Earth Science teacher in New York City before moving to a Corporate Education job in Illinois, where he stayed for 28 years. Upon retirement, Jerry returned to education and helped inspire children to be passionate about learning and science. He enjoyed working with the children and made an impact on many through his passion for learning and life. When not teaching, you could find Jerry biking around town on his recumbent bicycle or working outside on the house he loved. Jerry is survived by his wife Ellen Raff; their children, Diane Klotz and son-in-law Todd Klotz, Karen Fredrickson and son-in-law Dan Fredrickson, Alicia Raff and Rebecca Raff; and his 2 grandchildren Mitchell Klotz and Gavin Klotz. The service for Jerry has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, please instead make donations to the American Cancer Society. While Jerry is no longer with us, you can still keep his memory alive by remaining curious and always trying to learn more about this beautiful world we live in.
