Jean Kaplan nee Woolpy, 86, beloved wife of the late Bernard Samuel Kaplan for 59 years; most loving mother of Jimmy (the late Laurel), Judy (Mal) Malamed and Janie (Neil) Yaris; adoring Grandma of Jenna, Jeff (Bridget), Joey, Mellie, Robbie, Charlie and Annie; cherished Great Grandma of Teddy; dear sister of Nan Mayer and Jerry (Tara) Woolpy; treasured aunt of Joyce, Laura (Michael), Wendy (Jerry) and David (Rae); devoted daughter of the late Rose and Max. Chapel service, Monday 1:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. Jean always treated me like a daughter — I was a dear friend of Laurel and we would often times stop by at the Kaplans’ house to see Jim and visit his parents. I still remember visiting Jim and his parents at their law offices in the old Chicago Title and Trust building.
She had a wonderful sense of humor and always told it like it was. Somehow she kept track of my sons and always asked about them in later years. I was thrilled that she got to meet her great grandson, Teddy, and spend some time with him. May she be at peace with Bernie.
