I was Nat’s law office employee for most of my college education at Northwestern, and a better friend I couldn’t have found anywhere. He encouraged me to become a physician when I didn’t think I could do it. Even after I graduated and moved my life to Denver in 2004, we remained friends in contact a few times a year, never frequent, but always picking up in conversation just as we’d left things. Who ever would have thought such an unlikely friendship could exist? I am just heartbroken by this news. My sincerest sympathies to Jodi, Ben, and Emma. I am grateful to have known him.

In addition to Nat and I playing baseball together, Nat introduced me to my late wife Caryn Katz Jacob. As Nat and I were driving to pick her up for the first time we had a code whereas if I liked Caryn, I would turn the volume of the radio up, and if I wasn’t interested I would turn the volume of the radio down. Obviously as it turned out, the volume went up.
I will miss you, Nat. May you rest in peace.

Watching David and Rabbi Jodi push their grandchild in the stroller, and how much joy and love he brought to my daughter Sophia’s life as her Hebrew teacher. How he encouraged her to write and play tennis. The times that we sang songs together for our Chanukah celebration. His love of writing and life. His admiration for his wife Rabbi Jodi ,and his love of his family and grandchildren. The kindness that he showed to you every time that he met and greeted you. The smile that he always had on his face. The grief and sense of loss that I feel today along with my family is palpable, but his love and warmth overcomes all of it.I will never forget him.
