Leonard Benjamin Bain, 96, beloved husband and best friend of the late Bertha Bain, nee Portnoy for over 60 years; loving father of Doreen (Philip) Kaplan and Janice (Jeffrey) Pritikin; adored Papa of Gregg (Anna) Kaplan, and Marissa and Jordan Pritikin; cherished great Papa Lenny of William and Kristina; treasured brother of the late David; fond brother-in-law of the late William (late Jean) Magid, the late Dan (the late Helen) Portnoy and the late Irving ( the late Selma) Portnoy; devoted son of the late Jacob and Gussie; dear uncle, cousin and friend of many and loved by all. A special thank you to Lenny’s caregivers Brian Belandres, Weng Esguerra and Jofe Pacilan. Chapel service Wednesday 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Dear Doreen and Janice, My father, Maurie and I extend our condolences to you and your families. We are sorry we missed the service; i noticed the obit a couple days later after your Dad passed. They lived in the same building with your grandparents growing up. I have memories of coming to your apt off of California when i was very young. My Dad is also 96, and living in an independent facility near DePaul, about 15 minutes from me. Mom is gone 2 years now. Hope your Dad didn’t suffer. We’re sorry for your loss. Earl Kirshner
