Donald Frank Kowalski, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2019 after a battle with Alzheimer’s. Don was born October 20, 1939 in Chicago to the late Frank T. and Margaret Kowalski. He attended Lane Tech High School in Chicago and was a longtime resident of Arlington Heights. Beloved husband for 47 years to the late Sophie (nee Vinik); loving father of Karen Kaplan, Jeanine (Richard) Konopelski and David (Marcy) Kowalski; cherished grandpa of Brett, Blake, Bradley, Taylor, Joshua, Kylie, Noah and Gabriella; brother of the late Thomas W. (the late Mary Sue) Kowalski and brother-in-law of Julius (Marilyn) Vinik; and treasured uncle, cousin and friend of many. Don was a proud US Army veteran, serving in the Panama Canal and was a longtime employee of Jewel Foods. Visitation Friday, February 8th from 9:30 AM until the time of the Chapel service at 10:00 AM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Randhill Park Cemetery.
