My Bar Mitzvah.
My mother cried like a baby when she stood in front of the microphone to say a few words. Could not hold it together. When she finally composed herself , she pulled out a piece of paper that ran from the middle of her chest down to the floor. Her few words were anything but few as she was so proud.I wish i had given her more of those moments. She would give anything to anybody who needed. Always thinking of others ,she wasnt concerned about herself as she was always “fine”. Even when she was anything but.I MISS YOU MOM.

The three of us remember “Joanie” in our younger days, while growing up in
Chicago’s Edgewater District, with our beloved parents, Max and Harriet Tempkins (nee Korer). Our grandmother, Ann Korer, nee Spungin, was the oldest sister of four sisters,
including Ida Wolf.
We fondly remember Joanie as a teenager, with her adorable, dancing, dark brown eyes,
dark hair, and beautiful smile. Those were days of the very long skirts…going all the way
down to the ankles, but Joanie with her great figure wore those skirts so well.
We also remember our monthly Family Club. We had a large family back then and it was a joy to see everyone, including Joanie’s sister and brother, Barbara and Howard, Howard’s wife Barbara, and of course Joanie.
Time and events have separated us, but our wonderful memories of the long ago will
never fade and be a part of us forever.
G-d bless Joanie. May she rest in peace.
