Blanche Blumenthal, nee Rosen, born January 14, 1921 to Dr. Jacob and Helen Rosen, wife of the late Dr. Irving Blumenthal; loving mother of Marlene (the late Joseph) Mann, Ingrid (the late Jay) Brown and Dr. Lewis (Ellin Goodman); dear Cita of Jennifer Mann, Jamie Bender (David Terry), Jason (Sara Palcon) Mann, Sonny (Jennifer Harms) Mann, Bradley Blumenthal, David (Mara Putnins) Blumenthal, Marc Blumenthal, Emily (Tristain) Barrett, Leslie (Brian) Lavin and Michael (Joanne Flannery) Alpert; wonderful great grandmother of Trevor, Everett, Margot, Olivia, June, Joshua, Samantha and Riley Mann, Matthew and Miranda Terry, Brooklyn and Becksley Alpert, Asher and Tatum Lavin and Avery Barrett; dearest sister of the late Lila (the late Warren) Treadwell, the late Sheldon (Norma Dunn) Rosen and Mimi Kenig; aunt of many and dear friend of Patsy Kasper. A proud graduate of Northwestern University, life member of Hadassah, including long time president of West Suburban Chapter, Docent at Spertus College, the Field Museum and Lyric Opera, past president of West Suburban Temple Sisterhood, supporter of Israel Bonds, JUF and Technion. Blanche and Irving were the 1995 honorees for the State of Israel Bonds for the Western Suburbs. She was the March of Dimes past chairman for Oak Park. Blanche was lucky to have loving care for many years from her dear Jean Wilson and Kay Pearson. Chapel service Sunday 10 AM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. I want to express my sincere and deepest condolences to the entire family. I am so sorry for your loss.

I have the best memories of Blanche and Irving Blumenthal from growing up in Oak Park.
They were dear friends of my parents, Harold and Marilyn. Blanche was always so kind to me.
She always made me feel special and loved.
She was such a vibrant and vivacious woman! The Blumenthals were at my wedding and all other important occasions.

The fondest memory was when I gave birth to my son David, who has Down syndrome. Blanche drove all the way up to Deerfield to bring me a baby gift and to see us. NONE of my parents’ other friends took the time to do something so nice at such a tough time in my life.

She will always have a special place in my heart.

May her memory be for a blessing!

I did not know Mrs. Blumenthal but her husband and her son were and is my doctor for many years. Dr. Irving became my Doctor in early ’60’s, prior to January1963, when he helped deliver my second son January 13th, 1963 and continued to be our family doctor until he retired, by then my sons were adults, doctor Irving was a very kind man and with a good sense of humor, his son Lewis then became my doctor, now over 30 years; a wonderful family, doctor Lewis would keep me up to date, sharing stories of the fishing trips he enjoyed with his Dad, I always felt comforted to be in good hands after immigrating from Scotland in 1961.

My condolences, doctor Lewis, and to the rest of your family, may your mother rest in peace along side your Dad doctor Irving, I have some very fond memories.
