I first met Robert about 12 years ago as we both had dogs and we met walking them. This was before he had Marley. Over the years we became good friends. I appreciated his intelligence, and his great sense of humor. He never had anything bad to say about anyone. A true gentleman! He ate out a lot and knew nothing about nutrition. I cooked for him quite a bit the last couple of years which he really appreciated and I enjoyed it because he loved my cooking..I now have Marley as my dog and I wish I could tell him that Marley is happy and healthy and that we miss him terribly.

I first met Robert, aka, The Crankmeister when playing miniature golf where I accidently hit him with a ball in his special place. Robert was the funniest man I had ever met, but he was his funniest when reacting to life. Our Saturday night group was having dinner when our friend Mark suddenly fell off his chair and passed out. As he regained consciousness and we waited for the EMT’s to come and check him out, a new member decided that this was the perfect time to chat up Robert. Robert was desperately trying to ignore her advances and concentrate on our friend. But this woman was relentless. Being his BFF I watched this dynamic with extreme amusement. After Mark was pronounced o.k., Robert’s new girlfriend raised her hands above her head and said, “Praise Jesus!” It became one of the groups favorite taglines.
We share a Netflix account and would constantly change each others pictures and titles depending on the running joke of the day. One Saturday I decided to up my game. Instead of changing the name and picture, I decided to change the language – to Japanese! So when the Crankmeister strolls into dinner grumbling about the 2 hours he spent on the phone with Netfilix because those morons changed the language on his account to Japanese – I completely lost it. “You did this to me?” he screeched at me. “Of course I did. What are friends for?”
I hope wherever you are my dear friend, that golf balls come flying at you, and all the food tastes like its been made at Johnson’s Door County Fish where the secret ingredient is frying everything in the same oil that they have used since 1927 and you are being hit on by a Jesus Freak.

Marley was my first foster of over 50 fosters and will always be very special to me. I got to know Robert as a very loving parent to Marley and as a good friend to me. He helped me and my dogs out in a time of need and I will always be grateful.
He obviously wasn’t much of a cook as I had to explain to him several times how to boil livers for Marley and even had to give him a pan to cook them in.
He was one very special gentleman.
