I briefly worked with Carol when we were at Lake Forest Grad School. She was always kind and helpful, especially when I joined her division. My condolences. Best, Sue

Dear Marty and Family,
I will always remember Carole for her kindness, her gentle manner, and her courage in the face of challenges. I enjoyed our time together at Sisterhood events and over the years at so many Lakeside gatherings. She was an inspiration and will be missed by many!

Dear Marty,
I remember when Fran and I were living on Newport Avenue in Chicago. We ourselves had recently married, and you and Carole were over for dinner. You looked at me and said “I already using the ‘L’ word…the ‘M’ word may be coming.”
Then sometime later, signing your katuba…
Carrying you in my heart as you say good-bye to Carole who you loved so deeply. With deepest sympathy,
David

Grace (and Marty and family)
Carole was one of my first and best friends in Morton Grove. We were friends from 1st grade on. I have so many memories of the fun times (and difficult ones). Sleepovers, boys, etc. We haven’t kept in touch other than on each of our birthdays, almost every year.
Steve (my husband, who was also friends with us) are so very sorry for you loss. We will miss her and her phone calls.

Besides being a very good friend, Carole was instrumental and inspirational as very passionate and long standing board member of my nonprofit. We’ve implemented so many of her incredible ideas.
I will miss her very much in so many ways.
Condolences to all concerned.

Although we weren’t in constant contact (due to my relocating from Chicago), Carole was a good friend for over 35 years. Since we were both single for many years, we had many laughs over shared life’s experiences. I well remember when she met Marty and how much they loved each other; they made a wonderful couple, and had a great partnership. Carole is my hero. She had a wonderfully positive attitude and valiantly, courageously, fought her disease for many years, rarely revealing the struggles she was experiencing. I always told her she was a Timex watch — took a licking but kept on ticking. I’m so sorry the watch has stopped. I’m glad she was a part of my life, and I will truly miss her…
