Our tribute to Seymour is long overdue; unfortunately when he died our family was coping with the loss of several dear family members. Still, we want Seymour’s family to know how much he meant to us.
We always enjoyed our annual meetings with Seymour at tax time — and we loved talking with his beautiful wife Ruth. My biggest client at work during those years was the IRS, and Seymour always asked what they were up to. (Were they hiring or downsizing? Were they upgrading their systems? etc., etc.).
Lawrence and I still marvel at his lightning speed on that old calculator. Without even a glance at the keypad, he would crunch numbers so fast the calculator could barely keep up. As his fingers flew across the keys he’d chuckle periodically, look up from the scribbles he’d made on his long yellow ledger pad, and say “Now keep me honest, you two, keep me honest!”
Seymour always listened closely and took time to advise us about next year and beyond — upcoming tax changes to expect, how to reduce what we might owe — and most importantly, strategies for saving for the kids’ college tuition and for our retirement. Frankly, he changed our lives. We will always be grateful to him for gently but persistently keeping us focused on saving for what seemed like an ever-so-distant future.
To his family, belatedly we send our deepest sympathy,
Cynthia & Lawrence Rudmann

As Ruthie and Teemo were two of my parent’s best friends we saw them often, particularly on special occasions. We have many memories of Teemo and they all bring to mind this gentle, friendly, articulate, and worldly gentleman. In the days when I worked as a prosecutor with the State’s Attorney’s Office I had numerous outrageous stories. I can always remember Teemo sitting down and wanting an update on all of the anecdotes. What I remember most was his ability to make you feel as though you were the most important person in the room. With all of his attributes he was truly one of the most humble people we knew and we will miss him dearly.

I just wanted to express my condolences to Ruth and Seymour’s children. Seymour was a long time family friend of my parents Sidney and Charlotte. Seymour also was my accountant . Going to the office to work with Seymour was always a pleasure. He always had a smile, told silly jokes and the time “working” on my taxes was always fun. He was a wonderful accountant but more importantly a wonderful man who was kind to me always. He will be missed.

Oh my gosh….you all captured “Temo” perfectly! Over the 15 years I worked with him I had similar “moments” of his outgoing and positive personality. And today, I learned some things about him that I did not know…the Purple Heart, the marijuana, and his period in Milwaukee. Thank you for sharing all of your wonderful memories…..I will add them to my own. And when this pandemic is over please give Ruthie an extra large hug from me.
Fondly, Sharon

How many people actually look forward to seeing their accountant at tax time, knowing that they would owe the IRS?
Well, Seymour actually made tax-time FUN! I’ll always remember his warmth and his entreaties to “keep me honest.”
He was such a dynamic, kind person. His zest for life was palpable. And you knew he was a man you could trust.
I will never forget him. To Ruth and his loving family, please accept my deepest condolences. Know that he lives on in all of you.
With sincere regards,
Phyllis Betenia

Dear Cindy & Leigh,
It’s been many many years since I have seen you both. And I have nice memories of Cindy helping me navigate around Wash U, and Leigh in Key Club.
I’m genuinely sorry for your loss. Seems as tho your father lived to a ripe old age; but whenever we lose someone we love, it’s always too soon.
Sincerely,
Mark Bacharach

There are so many wonderful stories about Seymour that I have heard and told over the 30+ years that I knew him. He was truly one of a kind, he definitely enjoyed his life, and he definitely influenced mine. He always told me the first hundred years were the hardest! I wish we could share some of the stories together and celebrate his life. I have missed him these last few years and will continue to miss him. My deepest condolences to Ruth and his entire family. Sincerely, John Pieranunzi
