Penny was like a mother /sister to me.
We became friends through work sometime in 2006.
She was always there for me and I love her. Last time I saw her she came to my brothers funeral a year Ago. She was like family to me.
I have many great memories of Penny but I’m sad she did not get to meet my 2 little boys (I moved away) . Some of our last messages this year were about that.
Penny, I’m shocked and so speechless your bright light now shines in the stars. I hope my brother and loves ones are there to greet you in heaven.
Love your Jewish enough daughter,
Love you , I will pray to you and light a candle in your style…. xoxo

I’m so saddened to attend the funeral (by zoom) of my dear friend Penny. We’ve gone through a lot over the past 40 years starting with Maj jong & Tahoe Village. You have a heart of gold Penny, always been a true friend to me in good times & bad times. You would always remember to send cards to me for whatever the occasion was even when I told you not to spend your money on that. Oh how you loved music & dancing!! I will never forget our friendship and how sad I am to never see you or talk to you again! To your sons Brett, Brandon & Justin hold the memories of your mother close to your heart & always remember what a good kind hearted person she was. I know I will. Rest In Peace my dear friend Penny.

To Brandon & the Gilbert/Brown Family. Penny, Barb Barrett & I considered ourselves “The Three Musketeers” at all the live music gigs and Halien Shindigs. I’m so glad I got to Hug Penny on December 6th when She & Brandon stopped over a few days before her surgery. She will be greatly missed as a wonderful person to share fun experiences with and to be a sounding board for her and very attentive Facebook Friend. Wish I could bid farewell in person. Glad my wife & I could take her out for her birthday lunch and she posted the most beautiful birthday greeting for me only 2 months ago.

Brett, Brandon & Justin, I am writing this with such a heavy and broken heart. My deepest and heartfelt condolences to you on the loss of your mom. I know that this is an extremely difficult time in your life, my wish for you is that the memories of your mom Penny be a comfort to you during the days, weeks, and years to come and her memory be a blessing. Your mom was like an aunt to me and I have so many fond memories of activities that our families did together and going on various “shop till you drop” shopping adventures with your mom and my mom. To know your mom was to was love her. Penny I will always love you and you will be deeply missed.

Brett, Brandon and Justin, I am so sorry for your loss. Someday soon, your beautiful memories of your beloved Mom will turn your tears into smiles.
This is so difficult to write as I am writing with a heavy heart- I am heartbroken. Penny and I met more than 50 years ago. Penny always said it was beshert we became friends and it was God’s will that we were more than friends, but sisters. This was before the term BFF became popular.
In all the years I knew Penny, she was always an exceptionally devoted daughter, an incredibly proud and loving mother and truly the sweetest and kindest friend.
Our friendship included our children and we shared so many memorable moments and have memories of amazing adventures filled with laughter and the best of times together. My children think of her as an aunt and her sons as brothers. These loving bonds we Gilbert’s and Engel’s mutually share are truly blessings for all.
Penny had an extraordinary love of music. The notes, chords and melodies of music were an integral part of her life and this led her to sharing her love with an incredible circle of friends.
Penny I will always hold you in my heart. The blessings of your friendship will never leave my heart and thoughts . I always thought we would have more time to laugh, and savor life together. Rest in peace my sweet beautiful friend.
Until we meet again…

Our sympathies to the Gilbert and Brown families. I have such wonderful memories of visits to Penny’s house while we were growing up and sharing secrets in her room while our parents visited together. Also the yearly Brown Picnic rendezvous, where we were delighted to spend time with Penny and Buzzy and later, their wonderful families. Our love to you all.
