Survivors include Robert Wertheimer; four sons, Steven (Susan Lehnhardt), Gary (Estelle Foreman), Ronald (Kathy) and Larry (Karen); three grandchildren, April, Aaron and Amy Apfelbaum; one brother, Morris (Francine) Schwartz; nieces Linda (Alvin) Dodek and Eileen Weitzman; nephews Gary (Becky Willis) Schwartz, Mark (Judy) Weitzman and Keith (Cheryl) Weitzman; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and Wertheimer’s daughters, Susan, Nancy and Judy.
She also leaves behind former co-workers at Douglas Home Center, Combined Counties Police Association and QCSS, and long-time friends Ron Boardwine, Carole Tabinowski and Florence Miller.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sister-in-law Estelle Weitzman and brother-in-law Leonard Weitzman.
Ruth graduated from Marshall High School in Chicago in 1951, along with close friends Florence, Chickie, Carol, Lois, Esther and Evelyn. She enjoyed square dancing with the Square Spares; traveling with Florence, Carole, Judy and Donald; playing cards and ping pong; and volunteering as a theater usher at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center in Palatine. I will never forget Ruth’s beautiful voice welcoming to her home.
She was a great neighbor and friend to my parents Martha and Juan.
Ruth was a wonderful, caring person and I enjoyed talking with her when I would visit my parents. I never had a chance to thank her for the many times she took my Mom to the movies and to outings.
May your Rest In Peace. Blessings to the Apfelbaum Family during this difficult time.
