Obituary

Betty J. Stone, 96, December 23, 2021; beloved wife and best friend of the late Bernard for 66 years; loving mother of Arnie (Allison) and Jim (Jill); much loved grandma “Bibi” of Ben, Mindy (Kevin) Tappan and Zach; cherished great grandma “Bibi” to Kendall and Beckett Tappan. Betty was born in Chicago, on the southside, to her late parents Morrey and Ruth Edelman. Once married, Betty and Bernard were Glencoe residents for many years until retirement when they made Sarasota, Florida their home for the last 20 years. Betty adored her family- her sons and grandchildren, but her great grandchildren completed her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Temple Sinai (www.sinaidenver.org) would be greatly appreciated. Chapel service, Tuesday, December 28, 2021, 10 AM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home 1700 W. I wanted to let Jim and Jill as well as their children know how fortunate i was to spend time with you and your Mom in Florida. A special lady with a warm and caring personality. She made me feel right at home and the love she had for all of you was very obvious. We are blessed to have spent time with her and i can say that she is very proud of all of you . Please remember the memory of her with all the very best in the years ahead.

Of the many memories I have our Holiday Gatherings at Betty’s stand out. Of course sports dictated the schedule of when the meal was served. If there was great drama happening in a Bears or Cubs game at the moment of, “come to the table” the table remained empty.

Betty made sure everyone had plenty to eat and the family conversations encompassed all that was current in the world. We had answers for everything except why the Cubs kept losing.

Betty, Please tell Uncle Bernie hello and know we all love you both.
