As cousins, my relationship with Shelly goes back many years. I only knew him as Shelly until my parents started referring to him as Sheldon. I guess it sounded more professional and was appropriate for a professional CPA who was managing all their tax matters. While growing up our encounters were mostly at family gatherings, such as Passover Sedar at Grandparents Lena and Max’s north side apartment. Then life took me to other cities, but I never stopped rooting for the Bears and that made for wonderful telephone chats with Sheldon. When my parents passed, he became a co-trustee of their estate and much of our telephone interaction pertained to those matters. He was a sweet man, very professional, who loved to tell jokes and listen to my mother share her latest. He will be missed….Gary

Dale:
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Shelly. He was certainly a very special friend for so many years. I relive all the times we spent together, Saturday breakfast for probably 35 years +, being a marshal at so many golf tournaments, trips to Door Count and the occasional Bears game. He will be missed by me and always remembered with love.

TO DALE, DEBBIE AND FAMILY, GAYLE AND I WOULD ;IKE TO EXPRESS OUR CONDOLENCES ON SHELLY’S PASSING. IT CAME AS SUCH A SHOCK WHEN I GOT THE TEXT. I HADN’T TALKED TO SHEL FOR A WHILE. DIDN’T KNOW HE WAS ILL. MY PLEDGE BROTHER AT SAMMIES AND MY ACC’T SINCE HE STARTED PRACTICING AND MY FRIEND FOR 65 YEARS. WE SHARED MANY UPS AND DOWNS OF LIFE TOGETHER. HE WAS ONE OF THE KINDEST, MOST SINCERE PERSON THAT I KNEW. LOVED TO LAUGH ESPECIALLY AT HIS OWN FAUX PAS. WE WILL MISS HIM, BUT WILL KEEP HIM IN OUR MEMORY FOREVER GAYLE AND PAUL OLEFF

Shel and I shared a work space at Wipfli , until my retirement, last year.
We worked hard and had really good times together. I introduced him to Opal apples , which he seemed to really enjoy. He shared many wonderful things about his family. There is a lot of love in the family. He will be missed.

We share a beautiful family, our greatly loved Debbie and Dan and our extraordinary granddaughter, Samantha, our recent graduate Suma Cum Laude from University of Arizona.
We had many happy celebrations including the KU graduation, Dan and Debbie’s engagement including Grandma Connie at Carlos restaurant and our home. Debbie and Dan’s wedding which included Grandma Connie and Grandma Sugar was a wonderful day!! Samantha’s birth, welcoming her into the world included exchanged Limoges remembrances grandparents to grandparents and was such an incredible experience.
We hope for the family that many good memories will gradually ease their grief.
Our love ❤️ and condolences,

I so enjoyed working with Shelly on behalf of Northbrook for so many years. He was chairman of the Plan Commission and always watched out for what was best of our community. He shepherded projects – both difficult and easy – through the process in such a professional way – always listening to all sides of an argument before making a decision. He will be missed! My condolences go out to Dale and his family. – Sandy Frum
