Obituary

Renee Malter (nee Fenchel), 85, adored daughter of the late Harry and Millie Fenchel; beloved wife of Michael Malter, happily married for 65 years; loving mother of David, Mark (Amy) Malter and Tamara (the late Darrell) Pollack; cherished Grandma of Matthew, Danny, Drew and the late Dana (Tim Gaughan) Malter, Elliott (fiancée Tanya Ganellen), Jennifer and Garrett Pollack; preceded in death by her brother Neil Fenchel; treasured aunt to several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thank you to Rasheedat “Sophia” Olatunbosun and Yvett Taylor Haye for their care and dedication. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Renee and her granddaughter Dana to Everybody Dance LA!, www. everybodydance.org/donate.

Renee & Mike on vacation- hotel pic. Steven Coven

This photo of Renee & Mike, brings back fond, childhood, memories of all the times we would get together each year and the wonderful family trips we would take. I also remember, fondly, the wonderful friendship Renee had with my mother, Judy Coven. Renee was always an amazing, helpful, and loving friend. We will miss her. May her memory be for a blessing.

It was with great sadness that I watched Renee’s funeral today via Zoom since I was unable to be there in person. Renee and I have been friends since we were five years old and went to kindergarten together. Our mothers were friends, our children were friends. Our family went on vacations together; one in particular at Door County. I knew Mike in high school at Roosevelt before he even met Renee. Mike and Renee have been true and beloved friends for as long as I can remember, and we will truly miss “Rivka” as we sometimes called her. Sincere condolences to Mike, David, Mark and Amy, and Tammy and all of the grandchildren.
