Ruth was one of the classiest, brightest, and most interesting people I have ever known. I absolutely loved talking and laughing with Ruth and Roy while enjoying (a healthy) dinner on their porch! Their home was always filled with classical music – it brought me such peace. When I lived in Illinois, she and I would walk to Beth El synagogue for the High Holidays and we would have some wonderfully deep conversations. I treasured those times. Every time we spoke I learned more and more about her colorful, broad and varied interests and past experiences.
We last spoke in December. She updated me on her children – her pride in who they have grown up to become was so evident! I called her on mother’s day ever since my mom died a few years ago. I will miss doing that. I will miss her.

An additional memory
Ruth and Roy were very gracious hosts of a pre nuptial picnic prior to my marriage in June of 1977.
Roughly 22 years later when I knew that I needed to end my marriage they both provided moral support that meant a great deal to me.

When I first met Ruth, at a Shalva meeting, I was scared and awed by her. She knew so much, was so accomplished and spoke with confidence. She inspired me and I grew to know her sweeter much more fun side. After sharing times with her at Shalva I also shared holidays with her as a provider of Kosher food (I then owned Kosher Gourmet) where she would share stories and memories of everyone coming into town (especially Israel). May your memories comfort you and be for a blessing.

So many memories of Ruth as a thoughtful, principled friend. For many years we had a wonderful
Pesach experience with Katzs Baums Belzers and Kulakowskis.
She and Roy were wonderful friends.

My sincere condolences to the family of Ruth Belzer.
I was privileged to know Ruth for nearly 50 years through North Suburban Synagogue Beth El, where we worked together on several important committees and projects and, in more recent years, just schmoozing after services. Ruth was a remarkable woman. She was beautiful, keenly intelligent, wise, and seriously engaged in the life of the community. She will be missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
