Michael S. Kaplan

Michael S. Kaplan, 83, beloved husband and best friend of Bonnie, nee Lakin, for 30 wonderful years; loving father of Glen (Laura) Kaplan and Pam (Mark) Protus; cherished Grandpa Mike of Jenna and Eric Kaplan and Mitchell, Daniel and Jonathan Protus; devoted son of the late Sophia and Hyman Kaplan; dear brother of Phillip (Donna) Strongin and brother-in-law of Dr. Mark (Roberta) Lakin, Donna (the late Joseph) Goldberg and Robert (Maryellen) Lakin; treasured uncle, cousin and friend of many. Mike had a lifelong passion and love of sports that began as a child being coached by his brother Phil and a deep love of music came from his mother Soph, who herself was a musician. Mike was a proud and successful businessman. He was the vice-president of Jewel Osco and Gap. He was the owner of Watercolors Hallmark, where his retail skills, creativity and extreme work ethic made it one of the most successful card stores in the country. Mike treasured his lifelong friendships he made through his work that continued through his retirement. Mike loved his retirement years with Bonnie, traveling to Florida and spending time with family and friends. He had a keen sense of humor that was enjoyed by all. He enjoyed reading by the pool and exchanging text messages with his grandchildren. Above all, his greatest joy in life was his family.
