Craig, Glenn…your mother’s service was indeed a celebration of a beautiful life. You captured the essence of a beloved woman. Though our contacts were limited, I remember her good nature very well especially at the remarkable Krandel Passover seders…may your families be blessed.

Many years ago my first wife Elaine and I lived in Rogers Park on Ashland Ave. near Morse Ave. and Bobby and Ellis were our friends. They lived close by walking distance even then.
We played many bridge games and dined quite often. It was grand relationship.
More recently my wife Rita and I attended a play, I can’t remember which one, but Bobby was the usher who took us to our seats. She was as beautiful as I remember her in her younger days.
I also mentioned her name to my oldest child Barry who did remember their names and meeting them. I am saddened to write this remembrance about a good friend. May she rest in peace.

Something which was omitted from the Obituary was that Bobbie was also a cherished Sister-in-law. I knew her from the time I was ten years old when she and Ellis began dating. I was thirteen years old when they married. My first memory of her was of her striding into our apartment holding a “huge” teddy bear for me, which my sister Mary immediately named “Mr. Chips”. Other memorable gifts she gave me, were a ring on my sixteenth birthday, which had been given to her on her own sixteenth birthday. Another was her own long, warm, “nubby” grey coat the winter I started Junior College. I remember falling on the ice and how it protected my knees from injury. Then, there was my first wrist watch, which I loved. But the greatest gift she ever gave me was when she said to me, when I was in my early twenties, “No one has ever given you anything. Whatever you have, you have given to yourself.” I remember asking her once how she put up with Ellis sometimes, because, he could be difficult. She said to me, “You don’t know what he puts up with from me.” She was honest and loving. She was the only person I could talk about how much I missed Ellis’s presence after he died. I know it hurt her that he was not the favored son-in-law even though he took responsibility for caring for her Mother. I never had any doubts that they loved one another. I also know he would not have had as much as he did, if not for her. I know he appreciated that she was a smart, capable woman.
I will miss her and I will grieve for her.
