Alvin Siegel

Alvin Siegel, a brilliant CPA, a fun-loving man with a hilarious dry wit, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, died on Monday December 27, 2021, at age 84 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was a loving husband for 40 years to his late adoring wife Anita; caring father to Felice (Jerry) Williams and Ron (Leilah) Siegel; adored grandfather to Jared Williams and Kirk Williams; devoted son of the late Gladys and Samuel Siegel; cherished son-in-law of the late Sondra and Philip Bear; dear brother to Marcia (Joel) Greenberg, the late Maureen Rosenston and the late Preston (Sari) Siegel; treasured brother-in-law of Mari Frank (Lloyd Boshaw); precious uncle to his nieces and nephews, and dedicated friend to many who loved him.

Al spent almost his entire life in the Chicago area. At Roosevelt High School, he made life-long friends as part of the Rockets Athletic Club. After seeing his father’s tough life as a produce purveyor, he aspired to be a professional and attended Roosevelt University to become a CPA. Starting as a junior accountant and progressing to tax partner, he worked at the same accounting firm for over 50 years. For the last seven years of his career, he thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of a larger firm with fabulous colleagues at Warady and Davis. As a trusted tax partner, Al developed wonderful, long-term relationships with his clients and colleagues. He had an uncanny ability to connect with clients of all political and diverse beliefs and persuasions- accepting people for who they were – even after being raised in a very traditional home. Al completed over sixty tax seasons and retired at age 82 with his clients begging him to continue!

Al loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, and playing (mostly winning at) blackjack in Las Vegas. He excitedly watched his favorite Chicago sports teams with friends and family. But his greatest thrill as a long-time Cubby fan was to experience the Chicago Cubs win the World Series. Not only was he a sports fan, but for many years also an avid tennis player who fervently displayed his competitive nature. His love of tennis inspired his grandsons to become top-notch tennis players, too.

Al leaves a legacy of love, wisdom, humor and great fortitude. His family will miss him, but they know that he was welcomed by his beloved wife Anita, best friend Teddy, and many wonderful family members on the other side.
