שלום לבני משפחת יונס היקרים-

אני כותב אליכם בשמם של וותיקי חייל התותחנים בצבא ההגנה לישראל.
אביכם דוד ז’ל התגייס לחייל התותחנים כבחור צעיר ובחר במסלול הפיקוד והגיע לדרגת רב סרן.
במשך השנים שמר דוד ז’ל על קשר הדוק עם חבריו לשירות הצבאי שהפכו לבני משפחה.
כאשר החברים התגייסו כדי להקים אנדרטה לנופלי חייל התותחנים היה דוד זל’ בין הראשונים להרים תרומה.
אחר כך הקימו החברים גם מרכז הנצחה וזיכרון ושוב היה זה דוד ז’ל שהזדרז לתרום לזכר חבריו לשירות מגדוד 404.
בעקבות הקורונה החברים התגייסו לטובת ההורים השכולים עם חבילות שי לחג,תרומתו של דוד ז’ל.
כפי שהבנתם מעורבותו הייתה גדולה וברוכה.
על הקשר איתו שמרנו בעזרת ידידו הקרוב אבי חפץ שגם בישר לנו על הבשורה המרה אותה הפצנו בין כל חברי עמותת חייל התותחנים.

מי יתן ונהיה כולנו לממשיכי דרכו.

My Deepest condolences to David’s Family!

I first met David when enlisting to the Israeli army in 1961 served together for almost 2 years-through intensive training and in officer’s course in which you learn fast to appreciate your colleague’s personality and high values.

Over the years -he developed in an extremely successful route -but never forgot his old friends and kept good contacts as well as deep involvement in Israeli affairs and homeland -contributing so much , always with high personal involvement and care .

It is a great loss to us all

During my interview David noticed on my resume that I spent time living in Africa and he quizzed me. I recall him asking me if I knew what the largest country in Africa is and I did not. He had a smile on his face so I figured I might be OK… It worked out and I got the job but I brushed up on my geography.

I will miss him.

My condolences to all of David Jonas’s beautiful and loving family.
As you know better than anyone, David was a truly remarkable man who led a life like those of whom books are written. He was an intense, dedicated, brilliant man who accomplished more, and contributed more to good causes, in one lifetime than most people can even dream of, all the while rearing a beautiful and loving family.
I knew him only through his remarkable work years ago with and for the America-Israel Chamber of Commerce and the AIBEX program that he created and led. I only wish i had been privileged to know him much better and for much longer.
