Obituary

Selma Carasso, nee Gans, beloved wife of the late Albert; loving mother of Bobbie (Michael) Brody and the late Linda Carasso; cherished grandma of Chad (Marriz) Brody and Jessica (Jacob) Cohen; adored great-grandma of Jasmyne and Kyle Brody and Maxwell and Liv Cohen; dear sister of the late David (the late Shirley) Gans and the late Joe (the late Aida) Gans, beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews, and friend to many. Selma was loved and adored not only by her immediate family but also by her extended family, The Kesslers, who “adopted” her after the war and helped her build a new life. Selma endured the Holocaust and was a Survivor in the truest sense of the word. She was a devoted mother and caretaker for her ailing daughter, Linda, for many years. However, Selma turned her grief into love for her family, cooking for them and showering them with affection and constant hugs and kisses. She will always be remembered for her impeccable sense of style, her delicious recipes, and her love for sunbathing. Chapel service 10 AM Tuesday at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National MS Society (nationalmssociety.org) or the Illinois Holocaust Museum (ilholocaustmuseum.org)
