We got to know and love Ron during law school days as he and my husband Joe became study partners. I cherish the memories of long-ago study sessions, his marriage to Fern, the friendship of our children (who thought they were all cousins), our sharing of faith traditions, and his and Fern’s love and support through the years, which continued long after we moved from Chicago – and still does. Ron was “Uncle Ronnie” in our family, and will forever be so in our hearts.
With profound sadness,

Having worked in an office with Ron for nearly thirty years, and seeing him on an almost daily basis, it was upsetting when he could no longer be there regularly, though i was glad to see him on those rare occasions he would make it in after hours when i would still be there. Not only am I saddened by his loss, but also that i couldn’t me there for his funeral.
On behalf of my family and office staff, my condolences to Fern and the Shapiro family.

The service was a beautiful and meaningful tribute to Ron.So glad I was able to participate albeit virtually. Certainly your love for each other came through shiningly and with such power. I know how much Ron will be missed. My deepest, most compassionate condolences to you all. So many memories–high school, weddings, Dillmans, back and forth to and from Chicago and St. Louis. They are all treasures. I will miss him. Irene

Ron was a truly wonderful kind man. I worked for him for more than 10 years. He was truly inspirational and help me start my legal career. Ron and Fern treated us like family. He will be missed.

My deepest sympathy to the family from John and I. It was wonderful knowing Ron and the family throughout the years working in the same office. Ron was always kind to me and I appreciated that if he needed something, he knew he could ask. He was funny, kind, and a wonderful attorney, always looking out for his clients.
You will be missed.

Ron was such a lovely, smart, kind man. We’ll miss his wicked sense of humor, especially about politics. We’ll miss going to Keyboard Conversations at Northwestern. We’ll miss dinners at Denny’s. We’ll never forget him.
