Obituary
Gloria (nee Abramowitz) Ullman passed away on Monday, July 4th in Evanston, IL, at the age of 97. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 22nd, 1925 and was the daughter of David and Fanny (nee Salzman) Abramowitz. Gloria grew up in Brooklyn and attended the New York City school system and Pratt Institute (for fine art). She was predeceased by her husband Walter, her twin sister Norma and older sister Audrey. She spent her adult life in the Bronx NY, Danbury CT, Delray Beach FL and, finally, at 3 Crowns Park in Evanston IL. She is survived by her daughter Madeleine Shalowitz, MD, son Martin Ullman and their spouses Joel and Terry. She was especially proud of her grandchildren David Shalowitz (Emily Bunce), Kira Spivack (Chad), Ilana Meir (Amit), Glen Ullman and Charlotte Ullman and great grandchildren Parker Spivack, Chase Spivack and Hanna Shalowitz. She was a devoted mother and partner with her husband in life and in business. Her artistic sense showed in every aspect of her life as a jewelry designer, in her home, garden and singing in the synagogue choir. She loved us all unconditionally, encouraged us to be our best selves, comforted us when we needed care and led by example to respect others and care about the world. Private services will be held in Illinois on Friday, July 8. In lieu of flowers, your kind donations would be appreciated to her favorite charity, the American Jewish World Service, www.awjs.org
