Obituary

Alvin Fixler, 95, passed away on January 24, 2022; beloved husband and best friend of Eileen, nee Frank, for 63 amazing years; loving father of Steven (Julie) Fixler and the late Janine (Randy) Calkins. Alvin was a proud letter carrier for the USPS in Glenview for over 30 years and a WWII Army Veteran. He had a passion for writing and wrote a local TV program in the 1940’s called “Stand by for Crime” as well as being a self published author of 5 books. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his memory to Beth Hillel Bnai Emunah (www.bhbe.org/giving) or the USO (www.uso.org/donate/donate-in-honor) would be greatly appreciated. January 27th, 2022

I was sitting alone during Kiddish many years ago when BHBE was called Beth Hillel, when a man sat next to me. It was Alvin and turned out that our two sons Steve and Don were buddies in school. My son Don had been to Alvin and Eileen’s house many times. Later I met Eileen.

I fondly remember the friendly and soft spoken man who kept me company during that Kiddish.

I know Eileen has many fond and loving memories of their long marriage. Sending condolences to Eileen and her family.
