We had a special connection with Scott from the first time we met, well over 50 years ago.
It’s been an adventure and privilege watching Scott grow into the pure, sensitive, giving soul he became. His warmth and honesty made us want to be better.
Even when we hadn’t seen each other for long stretches of time, we always picked up where we left off – hugging, laughing, playing music and sharing indelible memories.
Whenever we came to Chicago, Scottie & Maryvil would always throw a barbecue in their backyard with Ram, Brett, Jeff, Doug and Scott’s beloved pups and we’d play & howl & party together into the night.
The last time we saw Scott was the summer of 2021, after he was diagnosed but still full of life & adventure. Brett, Jeff & Scott came to visit us in Oregon. This time, WE got to be the hosts….And what a time it was. Taking walks along the river, going to breweries & wineries…laughing, hugging & sharing. It was a magical moment that we’ll always cherish. Love you Scottie.

I have so many cherished memories of Scott, it’s hard to isolate one, so let me just say that Scott was one of the sweetest, most caring, sensitive, intelligent, beloved and extraordinary people I’ve ever had the tremendous honor of knowing. Scott and I were friends for nearly five decades, and during the last phase of his life, we still kept in touch. I’m glad I was at his last birthday, and I will store that memory alongside all the other great memories I hold of Scott. I will miss him in uncountable ways, and with great depth and dimension. Scott is irreplaceable, and my many good memories of him, will serve to comfort me through this painful time, and forever.
