Obituary

Rhonda Lee Gordon, nee Pustil, 65, passed away peacefully on June 10th surrounded by her beautiful family, holding hands with Stephen, her loving and devoted husband of nearly 45 years; the most amazing Mom of all time to Jason (Dottie), Jeffrey (Ellie), and Jessica (Kenny), and was so excited to become a Nani this year; Rhonda was the most cherished cousin, aunt, fitness instructor, and friend to countless people. Rhonda grew up in Skokie/Evanston with family and dear friends that she is still close with today. She was a proud Evanston girl. who loved to boogie to Motown. At the age of 20 she married her husband and their 45-year unbreakable bond was the definition of true and unconditional love. Shortly after being married and having kids, she found her true passion in life: teaching fitness. She improved so many peoples’ lives with her welcoming classes, witty humor, and her “I’m going to kick your butt – but in a loveable way!” attitude. She taught fitness for decades, even through COVID, hosting a group of ladies on her driveway every week to give them some normalcy during a challenging time. She loved her fitness community and loved taking classes as much as she loved teaching them. Many of her clients are like family to her. When she wasn’t teaching fitness, Rhonda loved starting her days with a strong cup of coffee (aka rocket fuel) with Steve and her kids. She enjoyed going on long bike rides and relaxing in the sun, especially in Palm Beach. Rhonda ended every night with a bowl of ice cream – extra sprinkles. Above all, Rhonda’s pride, joy, and greatest love was her family. She was the most devoted, caring, and loving wife and Momma Muffies. She loved nothing more than spending time with her kids – at home, on vacations, or visiting them in LA, Boston and Aspen. She absolutely loved surprising her family with small gifts or gestures to remind them that she was always thinking of them. Simply put, she was the best. We will miss her so, so dearly, but hold her amazing spirit, strength and unconditional love in our hearts and souls. To honor Rhonda, please do an activity you love, eat some ice cream with extra sprinkles, and most importantly, spend time with loved ones.
