Bernard “Bernie” Leavitt, 96, September 9, 2023. Beloved husband and best friend of the late Joanie Margolis for 65 wonderful years; loving father of Barry Leavitt (Esther Kusy-Leavitt), Marvin Leavitt (Patty) and Judie (Jon) Olson; cherished “Gpa” of Margo (Alex) Svendsen, Haley Bogdan, Cameron Leavitt (Aysha Ali), Harrison Kusy-Leavitt (fiancée’ Ayelet Shipley), Marissa Kusy-Leavitt and Raquel (Tony) Ventosa; much loved great grandpa of Hank & Jax Bogdan, Vivienne & Alexi Svendsen, Nico Ventosa and Ayah Leavitt. Bernie was an avid sports fan, had a love for music and current events. He could be found cheering on the Chicago Bears, Bulls and Cubs, but his greatest joy was watching his grandkids excel in their sports and dance. Bernie will be dearly missed by all. In Bernie’s honor, memorial donations may be sent to one of the following charities that are close to his grandchildren: FoxG1 Foundation, Experience Camp, or Lupis Research.
