So… I actually have vague memories of being a couple years old and going into Devon Bank with my mother, where she and Sharon both worked. That would be around 52 years ago, give or take 🙂 I remember Sharon and Kim’s apt (it was a great apt!) and even visiting her mother and grandmother where they lived, when she took Kim and I to visit. My entire childhood was interwoven with Sharon and Kim. Images of her being a devoted mother, her trying to figure out what to do with me and Kim when we fought (like cats and dogs half the time lol) and wonderful memories of seeing musical productions together – her, my mother, Kim, and myself. I can’t hear a song from Annie without remembering singing with Kim in her room, while her mother reminded us to put toys away in the side room attached to Kim’s bedroom. I remember Kim and I making peanut butter and banana sandwiches to share with Sharon and my mom (from a kids cook book Kim had) and Sharon’s endless need to pinch my tushy when I walked by, well into my teens. To this day if someone gets too close to my rear-end I yelp, swirl around, and stare accusingly LOL I can hear her voice in my head, what it sounded like 50 years ago, and what it sounded like a year or so ago when I last saw her. My entire life has been filled with memories of Sharon and her family. I was lucky that was, getting to be a part of knowing such wonderful people. Right now the deluge of memories is breaking me apart, but one day soon… they will bring smiles along with these tears. I miss her unbelievably much, and I don’t see that changing. I am SO glad my partner got to meet her last year, and he adored her (of course – who wouldn’t?!) I feel blessed to have known her.

I’m so sorry to hear that your mom has passed, Sharon was a wonderful and supporting person. We met in 1976 at Devon Bank in Chicago. Sharon was a customer service agent and I was an 18 year old college freshman working part-time. I’d go to work and then your mom would let me borrow her car to go to school and then I’d come back to work later in the day. I paid for the use of her car with cartons of cigarettes. We met again years later at a Casino Night for the Leukemia Research Foundation. Sharon definitely left a lasting impression on me…..I will never forget her.

I met Sharon at a networking event and we swiftly became friends. She was a great help to me and I will miss her.
Thinking of you at this sad time and wishing you the strength in the days ahead.
