Ira “Ike” Charak

Ira “Ike” Charak, 87, April24, 2023, beloved husband and best friend of Rita (nee Skott) for 64 wonderful years; loving father of David and Jonathan (Lara Kirts), cherished “Poppy” of Hannah and Abigail, dear brother of the late Sheila Jensen, brother in-law of Sharon (the late Alan) Koening, Ivan (Lanee) Skott, Patricia Skott, Myron (Cathy) Skott and the late Mildred Pollack, much loved uncle of many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Ike was born in Brooklyn, New York and went to Brooklyn Tech High School. In 1957 Ike earned a Bacholer’s Degree in Mechical Engineering from Georgia Tech, then in 1958 he received his Master’s of Science in Nuclear Engineering. Ike was the 1st to receive that degree from Georgia Tech. Continuing his studies, Ike went on to receive his MBA at the University of Chicago. Once his studies were completed, Ike worked for Argonne National Laboratory for 46 dedicated years. He was a jack of all trades and often was repairing watches, a talent he learned from his father who was a jeweler. Ike loved to take photos with his family of all their travels nationally and internationally but most of all he adored his family and spending time with them. He will be greatly missed.
