Harvey was genuinely the kindest and most thoughtful man I have known. He was always elegant, and always ready to listen and seek understanding, and then gave the best advice! I was the lucky recipient of Fudge every year at the Hoilidays, and over time more special baked goods were added and eventually recieved a giant box of delicious baked goods, which was his way of caring for those he loved. The Brookies were amazing. He always spoke of his granddaughters and what wonderful humans they are, and of Linda and Brad, whom I have met and now call Linda a firend. Harvey so dearly loved Thelma. The love for his family was always a topic of conversation. Harvey and I met about 25 years ago. I was a DMM at the time and he vistited my Team when he was with Tandy. We hit it off instantly. Everyone needs a Harvey in their life. Wishing Linda. Brad and the family peace and strength.

So many memories of Harvey, and all of them bring an immediate smile. We worked on a lot of projects together, shared stories of his trips to the same store in Iowa where my family always shopped for school clothes. His love for family was so clearly important to him as the years went along. And it was a joy to see the pleasure he got from baking for others. My life is richer for having known Harvey.

Linda and Marty and family,
Linda we just wanted you and your family to know that you are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.
A Final Goodbye to Dad,
In the quiet moments, when the world is still,
I hear your voice, a gentle whisper.
A reminder of the love you instilled.
A bond that time will never sever.
You taught me strength, you showed me grace,
With every step, I feel your embrace,
In every smile, I see your face,
In every challenge, your courage I trace.
Though your chair sits empty, your presence remains,
In every memory, in every refrain,
A father‘s love like an endless chain,
Binding hearts, despite the pain.
Today we gather hearts, heavy, eyes wet,
To honor a life, we’ll never forget.
A father, a friend, a guiding light,
Whose love will carry us through the night.
Rest now, dear father, your work is done,
But in our hearts, you’re never gone.
For a father‘s love, though he departs,
Lives on forever, in our hearts.
Love

Harvey & I met in 1963 , when I joined A. Stein & Co. as a sales trainee. He became my boss, my mentor and my friend! I often think back to those days in the 60’s & 70’s when we worked together. They were great years! Harvey was one of a kind–warm, funny, bright and always there to help! Everyone should have a Harvey in their lives! R. I. P.

My dear friend and mentor Harvey Shaps changed my entire life. When I was 25 years old I was working at Manhattan Accessories Division as a Sales Trainee in NYC. Harvey had recently left M.A.D. to become the National Sales Manager of Randa Corporation. M.A.D. wanted me to take on a sales territory in Boston at the time. After spending a week in New England in October in the rain freezing my ass off, I knew Bean Town wasn’t for me. So what did I do? I called Harvey and asked him if Randa had any openings in NY. He said no but there was a territory open in Los Angeles and he offered me a job so I relocated and moved to the West Coast. What an amazing adventure for a guy in his early 20’s to move across the country and live the life in LA. Because of Harvey I went from making $12,500 at M.A.D. to $95,000 my first year at Randa. We would drive around to the May Company, Broadway, Robinson’s, Bullocks, etc and meet with the Buyers and GM’s. And that’s when I’d sit back and watch the master at work as he would layout the Ties on the Table. He coined the phrase “Newness is Driving the Neckwear Business.” I didn’t know what the hell he was talking about when he said
that but the buyers liked what he was saying and he was putting a lot of cash in my pocket so I just sat there like a Happy Idiot smiling as Harvey worked his Magic and did his thing because as we all know Harvey Shaps was the Greatest Salesman Ever! And it wasn’t just about money. Harvey and Thelma always welcomed me in their beautiful home in Marina Del Rey for Passover and treated me like family which made the move to the West Coast a lot easier for me.
So I sit here with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart thinking about the wonderful man that was so kind to me and influenced my life in so many ways and just feel blessed for having known him especially in my youth when everything was exciting and the possibilities were endless. Thank you Harvey for always being there for me as a friend, boss, mentor and in many ways a father figure because my own dad died when I was 9 years old.
My sincerest condolences to Brad, Linda and the Shaps family. RIP Harvey. I’ll always love you, Steve Lieberman

I have so many special memories of Harvey. One of my favorites is when we took some important clients out to dinner at NOBU. Once seated, a blackout occurred. The waiter proceeded to spill an entire pitcher of ice water on Harvey (who as usual, was dressed to the nines). He was miserable. I noticed that Jackie Chan was dining at a table nearby with 2 beautiful women. I excused myself to go to the restroom but approached Mr. Chan’s table instead. I told him it was Harvey’s 70th birthday and that he was a huge fan. (It was not.) Several minutes later, Jackie Chan and his 2 guests came to our table and sang Happy Birthday to a very angry and wet Harvey. who eventually broke into laughter. Since then, each time we had dinner, it was always Harvey’s Birthday. It always made me happy to see his face of disbelief (as though saying AGAIN), but eventually, he came to expect it, and I believe secretly would have missed it had I forgotten. Over the years, we probably celebrated another 50 faux birthdays together and I treasure the extra years we celebrated with free desserts together. Harvey, I love you and will always remember you with respect, appreciation, and admiration. Til I see you again my friend.

We knew Harvey from Temple beth Am. He always sat in the seat on the corner, and loved speaking to our son Chason.
He was a man with a huge heart. We will miss him.

Harvey and Thelma were very important and ever present in the lives of Amnon and Myra Feffer and other members of our Havurah
at Temple Beth Am for many years.
Even afterwards, we remained close friends . Amnon passsed at the end of 2014 . One of his last good dinners was brought by Harvey and Thelma to our rented townhouse up in Beverly Glen.
I missed them very much when they moved to NJ and was so glad to visit in 2022 and get to see Linda and Marty too accompanied by my daughter Rachel.
I was able to watch Thelma’s funeral service and was so moved by the wonderful tributes from family and friends.
I will attend Harvey’s service too with a heavy heart.
Miss all of you very much and hope to hear good things and good news about all of the family in the future.
Much love,
Myra
