Howie loved golf and no matter how poorly he played he always had a positive outlook.
This is the same way he approached his life. Always positive.
My condolences to the family may he rest in peace.

I am one of Jeff’s closest friends and have known Howard since I am 22. Since I moved to Chicago in 1992, Howard and Lois included me in all family holidays and took me to Centro and East Bank regularly back in the day. They always made me feel welcomed. Howard was famous for his Rally Capital holiday parties. I was at Howard’s 50th birthday party in the backyard at the house on Stratford in Deerfield which will never be forgotten. Howard had a big personality and you knew if he was in the room. I was lucky to have many good times with Howard and the entire Samuels family. He will be missed.

I met Howie over 30 years ago. We did some business together, played a few rounds of golf, and broke bread.
Howie was a nice man and I’m happy to have known him and called him my friend.
I’m sorry he is gone..

Howard was always wonderful to be with – a great sense of humour and hysterical stories. Whether we had a meeting or saw him out on his breakfast circuit at Max and Benny’s, he was always personable and great to see. He was a legend in our industry – everyone knew and loved Howard. He will be missed.

Susie & I were blessed to have Howie as our next door neighbor in Deerfield for over 30 years. He was always a friend and neighbor that we could count on. We remember all of the good times that we shared together most especially the family celebrations with Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, graduations, Cubs games, Sluggers, golf games, and just hanging out together at home. We send our love and deepest condolences to Lois, Jeff & Stacey.

My memories of Howie include countless golf games, dinners, trips- all full of laughs due to Howie’s wonderful sense of humor. What’s even more of a testament is that he never lost his sense of humor despite going through some really tough times. The attached photo was taken at the Kohler display studio in Kohler, Wisconsin and captures Howie’s whimsical nature. He should also be remembered as a superstar in the legal/ insolvency community. We will miss you tremendously. Love, Don and Robbin.

Howard had the ability to salvage a dark moment or a big problem with a quip, a funny story or his own unique brand of comic relief. He loved the absurdities of everyday life and modern times. For many years his ring tone was Always Look on the Bright Side of Life. That drove me crazy as his phone went off dozens of times a day. Now that song is playing over and over in my head. It won’t stop. Darn you Howard! He was an artist, an actor, a comedian and a true raconteur. I will cherish my memories! Love and peace to all of those he touched!

Lots of laughing, ribbing and giving out medical advice. Howard trusted me like an internist. He gave me golf tips and I am grateful for them. Loads of dinners, many great egg rolls. He was one of a kind and I miss him dearly. Sandy Flaster, MD
