Jerry Lowell, 89, beloved husband of the late Barbara “Bobbie” Lowell, nee Zidoff, for 68 wonderful years; loving father of Scott (Marla) Lowell, Wendy Lowell, and Jeff (Suzy) Lowell; cherished Gramps of Lindsey (Graham) Gold, Jared (Bridget) Lowell, Lexi (Danny) Gottlieb, Jesse Lowell, Zach Lowell, Jacob Lowell, and Brandon Lowell; adored Great Gramps of Beckett, Brody, and Baker Lowell and Samson Gold; devoted son of the late Evelyn and Noah Lowenthal; dear brother of the late William “Bill” Lowenthal; treasured brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend of many. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jewish United Fund at www.juf.org. Chapel service Tuesday 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. I grew up in the Lowell household being best friends with Wendy. Bubby and Dad always greeted the kids with hugs and love and believe me the FIRST person i would greet even before Wendy was Dad. Maybe Mom if she was in kitchen but always went right to Dad who would be sitting in his chair with a smile. I leaned over to hug him when most would be even afraid of his larger-than-life stature! But i know he would hug me with his teddy bear way and felt SO proud to be one of Wendy’s friend’s he loved.
At Jesse’s Bar Mitzvah he leaned in quietly as he saw me (how lucky i felt to be included in that wonderful occasion) and slipped me money to pay for hotel parking. I will never forget the honor the quiet strength of this wonderful man even taking care of Wendy’s friends so they would not feel alone. I adore you Mr. Lowell, cherish the moments i was fortunate enough to be in your company and value the Love you and Bubby have which the world could only be so lucky. Rest now and i wish you a safe landing into Bubby’s arms.
