I most remember Vi’s deep, genuine sweetness, always, in all moments we were together. And I always admired how this tiny, quiet, self-effacing person created a true home of love for Harvey, Michael and Dena, and really anyone who walked through their door. I knew my brother-in-law for many years before he met Vi, and before I married his brother. I knew him in his wilder days and as he struggled to become the man of character that he wanted to be, not having had a good role model. The highest praise I can offer is that Vi helped him become a better man, and he loved her deeply, just as she was.
I am grateful to have been able to be at this beautiful service despite the long distance, and to see once more her children’s genuine love for her. It was a small life, but so big in its meaningful impact. Michael, Dena— I still love you both, and I’m so very proud of you, as was your Mom.
