Sue/Lee became our ‘late-in-life friends’ through our frequent encounters at Panera.
Over the past few years, we got to know each other and our histories pretty well. We were so impressed with Lee’s art work. We always enjoyed our conversations…travels, movies, shared memories of ‘the way things used to be.’ And he had the warmest smile.
And he had the most devoted wife. We shall miss him, indeed.

When I was growing up, a trip to Woodfield Mall was not complete without visiting Uncle Lee at his drapery store. George Lauder perhaps?

More Bryn Mawr breakfasts. Add to that all the Panera, and we ate well.

Lee was a force…husband, father, friend to many, self taught artist, and a man who loved life. He was enthusiastically joyful when he would pull out his wedding photo from his wallet. Or similarly when he would show his prolific artistic efforts. Lee enjoyed his Panera and Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club excursions, whether alone or with family and friends. He will be sorely missed, but he is in a peaceful place now.

I can remember being about six or seven years old and Uncle Lee teaching me the PROPER way to shake hands.
FIRM grip and look the person in the eye.
Something I’ve never forgotten.
