Bette Mecall

Bette Mecall, age 95, from Chicago, of late Palm Beach Gardens, FL; loving mother of Blythe (the late Stevan) Albert, Marc (Anna) Kupferberg, and Andrew (Mara) Kupferberg; daughter of the late Sara and Barnett Cooper; cherished grandmother of Tiffany Rose, Allison (David) Sheade, Rebecca (Eitan) Gordon, Kate (Josh) Fintel, Joe (Jacob Sterling) Kupferberg, Marissa (Kevin) Allex, and Rachael Albert. Great-grandmother of nine. Married in 1949 and divorced from Irving Kupferberg (deceased); remarried in 1983 to Irving Mecall (deceased); died peacefully in Florida on Wednesday, October 9. Raised in Chicago and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1947. Moved to Skokie in 1956, Glencoe in 1968, and retired to Palm Beach Gardens, FL in 1984. She enjoyed golf in her younger years and winning at Mah Jong, but her family was most important to her. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her love of music and the arts, and her wicked sense of humor. She embraced her Judaism beautifully, as she passed on traditions (and recipes) as well as her own sense of spirituality, seamlessly. Graveside service, Friday, 1 PM at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W.
