Obituary

Susan E. Seidman, 70, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025 with her loving family by her side. Beloved wife and best friend of Dr. Sheldon for 48 wonderful years; loving mother of Adam (Melissa) and Scott; cherished grandma of Beckett and Elodie; sister of Adrienne Mallet and the late Franklin Harris; dear sister in-law of Richard (Mary) Seidman and Susan (Leonard) Litwin; and friend to all who had the honor of knowing her. The family would like to thank Susan’s caregiver Natalie, for her compassion and dedication. Susan and Sheldon met in the 6th grade, attended Von Steuben High School and the University of Illinois. Susan went on to DePaul Law School and began her career at First National Bank of Chicago in Estate Planning. Susan married her childhood sweetheart, grew her family, and built a successful career. She was an avid reader, loved to cook, enjoyed shopping, but her greatest love was her family. She will be deeply missed. I met Susan 20 years ago attending dental conferences. I worked for one of Dr. Seidman’s colleagues. She adopted me, looking out for me. We saw each other periodically over the years at other events. She was always gracious.

We first met Susan and Shelly in 1974 when we moved from NJ for Carl to attend dental school. They took us under their wing and integrated us into North Shore life, introducing us to Lou Malnati, Hackneys and Pequods. All still regular haunts, with the latter becoming a Katz family 4 generation tradition. We became fast friends and spent many a Saturday night together, often a movie followed by Walker Brothers and a shared apple pancake. Susan and Debbie planned their weddings together, and they took place one week apart. We celebrated together all our sons (2 Seidmans, 3 Katzes) mitzvoth, Brit , bar mitzvah and weddings and spent many holidays together over the years. Fifty years of fond memories,
