Obituary
A proud veteran, Seymour honorably served his country as a U.S. Army sergeant, First Class, during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. After his military service, he dedicated 50 years of his career to a parts and electric motor company, where his strong work ethic and loyalty were evident in everything he did.
Seymour shared 68 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Judi. Their bond was one of deep love and unwavering devotion. He was a dedicated father to his three children, Ilene (Jim) Slonoff, Larry (partner Kristi Atha) and Debra (Mark) Vilchis, always ensuring they had the support and encouragement needed to succeed in life. He loved his seven grandchildren, Michael (Jenni) and Matthew (Bethany) Slonoff; Jack and Ethan Fleischman; Cassidy, Marlee and Charlie Vilchis; and his two great-grandchildren, Tessa and Luke Slonoff. He also cherished his younger brothers, Ira and Howard Fleischman, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and laughter.
A passionate sports fan, Seymour remained a faithful supporter of the Chicago White Sox. He also had a deep love for the music of the 1940s, able to recall and sing every verse of his favorite songs, even as Alzheimer’s gradually affected other aspects of his memory. His love for music and humor remained constants in his life, endearing him to family and friends alike.
Known for his warmth and wit, Seymour was the grandfather who always had a silly face or a corny joke ready to keep his grandchildren laughing. He found joy in the little things, from perfectly maintaining his lawn to ensuring every drawer and item in his home was meticulously organized.
Seymour’s legacy is one of love, laughter and dedication. His family and friends will forever cherish his kindness, humor and the countless memories they shared with him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Honor Flight Chicago in memory of Seymour Bernard Fleischman.

One time when Grandma Judi and Grandpa Seymour took my siblings & myself to the shopping mall when we were kids, Grandpa sat on the ladies undergarment display to read his newspaper in one of the stores, and it toppled over, undergarments everywhere. Grandma Judi even laughed when I thought she would be mad. My siblings and I could not stop laughing. Silly memory but one of my fondest.
