We are very sad that Herb passed away. Our hearts go out to Sharon, Michael, Eric and their families. Herb was a true Mensch!
We were fortunate to spend time in Chicago with Herb, Sharon, Penny and David this past September. Herb would call us to see how we were doing when there was a flood, fire, or earthquake near our home in California. With the current Los Angeles area fires, we miss hearing Herb’s reassuring voice.

My wife’s parents had an enduring friendship with Joe and Esther, the grandparents, so it was only natural to have known Mort and Herb since high school. My fondest early recollection is when I came to Champaign to tour Illinois, I stayed in Herb’s apartment and even then he manifested all the positive virtues mentioned in the eulogies. He was a kind man. During my banking career, Herb and I would cross paths and it was always a satisfying experience.
My wife, Fanchon, and I want to express our condolences during this difficult time. May the wonderful memories of Herb sustain you all during this difficult time.,
